Spinosaurus Elite Scale Head Prop Reproduction
“Spinosaurus aegyptiacus.”
“I don’t remember that on InGen’s list.”
— Alan Grant and Billy Brennan
Jurassic Park III is the 2001 science fiction adventure film that serves as the sequel to The Lost World: Jurassic Park and the third installment in the Jurassic Park franchise. It is the first film in the series in which the Tyrannosaurus rex does not take center stage as the dominant carnivorous dinosaur. Instead, that role is assumed by the formidable Spinosaurus.
In one of the film’s most memorable scenes, the Spinosaurus defeats and kills a Tyrannosaurus rex, cementing its place as the apex predator of Jurassic Park III. The film is also unique in the franchise for featuring the Spinosaurus on its logo instead of the iconic Tyrannosaurus rex.
Concept artwork for the Spinosaurus was created by Mark “Crash” McCreery, who had previously contributed concept designs for the first two films. McCreery envisioned the creature with a “venomous” aesthetic inspired by animals such as the coral snake. Joey Orosco further developed the design by applying colored-pencil concepts that established the distinctive red coloration shared among several dinosaurs featured in the film.
Orosco also supervised the construction of the life-sized animatronic. The head’s skin was fabricated from durable hard rubber rather than foam, providing greater resistance to water and wear. Its eyes were hydraulically controlled, allowing for more realistic movement. The Spinosaurus animatronic created by Stan Winston Studio remains the largest, heaviest, and fastest animatronic dinosaur ever built by the legendary effects house.
Elite Creature Collectibles is proud to present the Spinosaurus Half-Scale Head Prop Reproduction from Jurassic Park III. Acclaimed ILM artist Bitan has faithfully recreated the Spinosaurus as seen in the film, while the paint master was completed by Stan Winston Studio Jurassic Park key artist Joey Orosco. Featuring extraordinary detail and screen-accurate craftsmanship, this impressive reproduction allows collectors to appreciate features and textures that may have gone unnoticed on the silver screen.
